Volunteers play a vital role in the management and monitoring of our clean water. Several PREP partners offer opportunities for interested citizens to participate directly in efforts to fulfill the objectives of the PREP Management Plan and ensure clean water for healthy natural and human communities. Each year, hundreds of volunteers assist with shoreline cleanups, research, data collection, education, planning, and numerous other community-based efforts.

PREP has recently convened a Citizen Action Coalition (CAC). The CAC exists to unite our residents, scientists, organizations, policy makers and businesses to improve & protect the water quality of the Seacoast’s rivers, lakes, bays, marshes & beaches through education, collaboration and action.

To learn more about the CAC & to become involved in protecting clean water in the Seacoast contact Community Coordinator Jill Farrell

The Great Bay Coast Watch was founded in 1990 and is supported by UNH Cooperative Extension and NH Sea Grant. The GBCW is a volunteer organization whose mission is to protect New Hampshire's coastal waters through water quality monitoring, education, and outreach. Volunteers include teachers and students, retirees, shoreline property owners and other concerned citizens. Since 1990 GBCW has expanded its long-term water quality monitoring coverage from seven to twenty-one sites, plus added six sites for phytoplankton surveying.
