| Comments on Strategic Plan for NH State Parks 7-2-09: PREP submitted comments to NH Division of Parks and Recreation on its Draft Strategic Plan that identified several State beaches in the seacoast as insufficiently meeting some key operational criteria. |
A Citizen's Guide to Understanding Hampton Falls Land Use Regulations that Protect Critical Water Resources Implemented through the Community Technical Assistance Program, a buffer outreach project was conducted in Hampton Falls with a goal of communicating to residents the relevant town regulations that protect water resources. A large format, tri-fold brochure was developed that included information on the Town's wetland ordinance, aquifer protection district, vernal pools, Comprehensive Shoreland Protection Act (CSPA), invasive plants, and recommended activities around the home to protect water resources. The title of the brochure was "A Citizen's Guide to Understanding Hampton Falls Land Use Regulations that Protect Critical Water Resources". The brochure also includes a large map of the town's aquifers, Prime Wetlands, CSPA buffer areas, and wetlands as determined by NRCS data. PREP designed and produced 1300 copies and through saturation mailing, delivered 1214 brochures with inserted evaluations to every Hampton Falls household. | Strafford CTAP Meeting 7-13-09: PREP staff met with the Strafford Conservation Commission to discuss their CTAP project to develop a stewardship plan for town conservation lands, including the Isinglass River Conservation Reserve. |

| Fremont CTAP Meeting 7-15-09: PREP staff met with the Fremont Conservation Commission to review the first draft of a 12-page community water resources newspaper with an emphasis on buffer protection. |

| CZ09 Presentation and Poster 7-28-09: Staff presented the results of PREP's 2008 "Climate Ready Estuaries" pilot project at the Coastal Zone '09 Conference in Boston, MA. The presentation summarized the results of a PREP project that examined the readiness of culverts throughout the watershed to handle flooding events under current conditions and under scenarios that estimate increased stormwater contributions from watershed development and climate change. PREP staff also provided a poster for the conference entitled "Numeric nutrient criteria for the Great Bay Estuary in New Hampshire". |
